  • Use new lights or lights in good working condition on your tree, because they stay on for long stretches over the whole run of the exhibit.
  • Don't count on your tree keeping its spot, because the Opera House may rearrange trees after decorating to suit the space and the look of the exhibit.
  • Sign your group up for the Usher Program if you want perks like early Tree Walk entrance or preferred placement in the Community Room.

Quick Actions

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the theme this year?

The 2026 theme is A Patriotic Holiday – Celebrating 250 Years of Christmas. It honors America's 250th anniversary with trees that take on Christmas traditions and American heritage.

Who decorates the trees?

Local organizations and businesses decorate the trees. They're displayed throughout the Woodstock Opera House.

How can my organization put up a tree?

Fill out the registration packet. Interest is high, so spots are chosen by lottery. Submissions are due October 16, the lottery is drawn October 23, and organizations hear back as soon as it's done.

What do we need to bring to decorate a tree?

Bring an artificial tree, ornaments, a sturdy stand and lights that are new or in good working order. A tree skirt is optional. Don't bring extension cords (the Opera House supplies them), motorized trees or ornaments, live trees, open flames, donation boxes, brochures or flyers.

Is there a way for participating groups to get early entry or better placement?

Yes, through the Usher Program. Groups that fill 10 usher spots get preferred tree placement in the Community Room. At 20 spots they get early Tree Walk entrance, and at 40 spots they get Opera House magnets. Each usher also sees the show they usher for free.
