Charpentier: Messe de Minuit
Audiences experience a seasonal Baroque concert pairing Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s Midnight Mass for Christmas with Johann Sebastian Bach’s Magnificat beneath the vaults of the Royal Chapel. Charpentier’s setting weaves traditional 17th-century French Christmas carols into the liturgy, while Bach’s piece features orchestral fanfares of trumpets and timpani. The performance is led by conductor Valentin Tournet with the ensemble La Chapelle Harmonique and a quintet of soloists.
