Tips & Advice
- Bring cash with you, because many exhibitors are occasional sellers without card machines and the village's only ATM may not keep up with demand.
- Fit winter tires before driving up, because cars, campers and coaches must have them and state road 337 is the only road into the valley from Italy.
- Dress in warm, comfortable layers, because the village sits above 800 metres, winters are cold, snowfall can be heavy, and there is no heated covered seating.
- Stay in the old town after dark, when the big Christmas fir in Piazza Risorgimento lights up and the streets take on a cozier, more intimate feel.
- If you arrive on the Vigezzina-Centovalli railway, start your visit on via Cadorna right by the station and follow the suggested loop through the village.
Special Events & Promotions
- New this year: via Cadorna becomes the 'Via della Musica', with three music points featuring jazz bands, bagpipes, brass bands and accordions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the market good for kids?
Yes. There are decorated corners, activities, workshops and exhibitions designed with kids in mind. Santa's wooden house is in Piazza Gennari, with a letter box for children's letters. A heated baby pit stop with a free changing table is at the Casa del Profumo.
What is there to eat and drink?
Food stalls offer take-away snacks, hot local dishes, vegan soups, stinchéet (the local alpine street food) and vin brulé. Food producers from the local province sell zero-kilometer specialties. In the Casa del Profumo greenhouse you can have a hot Aqua Mirabilis herbal tea for a small contribution.
Which route should I follow around the village?
The suggested loop runs via Roma, piazza Risorgimento, via Benefattori, piazza Gennari, via Rosmini, via Dante, via Cadorna, via Rossetti Valentini and via Cavalli. If you come by train on the Vigezzina-Centovalli line, you can start straight from the station on via Cadorna.
Where are the info points and toilets?
The main info point is at the Casa del Profumo in piazza Risorgimento, and a second one is at the Scuola di Belle Arti Rossetti Valentini in via Cavalli. Public toilets are in piazza Mercato and in the small gardens on via Rosmini. A heated toilet on the first floor of the Vecchio Municipio is available for a small fee.
How do organized coach groups get there?
Coaches must have winter equipment. They can stop briefly on via Matteotti near via Roma (market entrance 1) to drop passengers off, then continue to the parking area at the former colonia in Druogno. Groups are asked to email their day, number of coaches and where they're coming from.
