Holiday's Evening
Visitors explore living history farms featuring authentic and replica buildings from the 1860s and 1890s. Guests can take horse- or mule-drawn wagon rides, warm up around three bonfires under the stars, and see blacksmithing demonstrations at the forge. The evening also includes holiday music performances, visits with Father Christmas, and complimentary hot cider, cornbread, and cookies.

Will Santa be there?
Yes. Santa is back this year, dressed as Father Christmas in a green robe and holly crown, like 1800s pictures of him. He meets children at the Icehouse shed, hears their wishes and gives each child a candy cane or a wooden top.
What food and drink is included?
Hot cider, gingersnaps and cornbread are served at the 1890s Blacksmith Yard. There is more hot cider at the 1860s Wagon Unloading Station by the Schoolhouse. If you need it, you can ask for a factory-sealed Made Good cookie instead of the gingersnaps, while supplies last. Those cookies are organic, gluten-free, peanut-free, tree nut-free, Kosher and vegan.
What music is there?
The Smithtonian Handbell Ensemble, Littleton's community handbell choir, plays in the Museum Classroom. Jon Chandler plays guitar and sings in the 1890s Barnyard. He has won the Western Writers of America's Spur Award three times. The Other Reindeer Carolers wander the grounds in Victorian clothes, singing winter carols.
Is there anything for young kids besides Santa?
Yes. In the Lecture Hall, kids can write a letter to Santa. They can also color in coloring pages made from real photos of the museum's farm buildings and animals, and take them home.
Can I volunteer?
Yes. The museum recruits volunteers aged 16 and up for a range of indoor and outdoor roles.
