Mother Shipton's Magical Christmas Experience
Visitors journey through an illuminated woodland into an enchanted Christmas Village for a personal family visit with Santa in his cosy grotto. Children can listen to festive stories from Holly Berry inside a lit tipi, fill a bag of reindeer food, and send letters at the Snowy Owl Sorting Office. Guests can also hang wishes on the Christmas wishing trees and explore the Cave, Petrifying Well, and Wishing Well.

- Tickets: Magical Christmas Family Ticket (car admission, up to 5 people): £44–£46; Magical Christmas Family Ticket (pedestrian admission, up to 5 people): £44–£46. Santa Experience Ticket for children aged 0–12: £18–£19, in addition to a family ticket. Peak Dates are 28 and 29 November and 18 December; Super Peak Dates are 5, 6, 12, 13 and 19–24 December. Additional group member tickets are needed for parties of more than 5; a child added to the group also needs a Santa Experience ticket. Under-6-month babes in arms accompanying another paying child do not need a Santa Experience ticket unless they are to have a full Santa experience with a gift. - Hours: Seeing Santa is at the start of the booked time slot; arrive 15 minutes before the slot. For 28 or 29 November bookings at 3:50 PM or 4:00 PM, arrival is allowed from 3:30 PM and the site closes at 5:30 PM. For bookings after 6:50 PM on December dates except 24 December, arrival is allowed from 6:30 PM and the site closes at 8:30 PM. For 24 December bookings at 1:50 PM or 2:00 PM, arrival is allowed from 1:30 PM and the site closes at 3:30 PM.
- Parking: Parking within the attraction for the session time is included with car admission tickets. Parking is for visitors to Mother Shipton’s only; visitors cannot leave their car parked after walking out of the attraction.
- Accessibility: The middle of the attraction is accessible by wheelchair, but the grotto and huts have narrow, uneven paths, and the Cave and Well require climbing three flights of steps.
- Pets: Dogs are not allowed in the park during the Christmas event, except Guide/Assistance dogs.
Tips & Advice
- Arrive 15 minutes before the start of your slot, because Santa is seen at the start of it and daytime visitors can't arrive any earlier.
- Wear sturdy footwear and waterproofs, as the elves suggest, because the woodland paths can be uneven and some areas depend on the weather.
- Bring a bank card rather than cash, because no cash is accepted anywhere within the attraction during the Christmas event.
- If you come on foot, remember the only entrance and exit is on High Bridge, so you'll walk back the way you came.
- Leave pushchairs in the shelters before the grotto area, as the narrow walkways and uneven surfaces there may not suit every pushchair or wheelchair.

What tickets do we need?
You need two types of ticket. A Christmas Group Admission ticket (car or pedestrian) gets up to five people into the park. Every child aged 0–12 who wants to see Santa and do the activities also needs a Santa Experience ticket. You can't buy Santa Experience tickets on their own.
Can older siblings and babies come along?
Yes. Children aged 13 and over can go in to see Santa but won't get a gift or activity pack unless you buy them a Santa Experience ticket. Babes in arms under six months don't need one if they're with another paying child. Everyone, babies included, counts toward the five-person group ticket.
Can we bring a pushchair or wheelchair?
You can reach the middle of the site, where the Christmas Village and catering are, with a pushchair or wheelchair. The grotto and activity huts have narrow walkways and uneven surfaces, so there are shelters to leave pushchairs and wheelchairs in. The Cave and Well have three flights of steps and aren't suitable.
What food and drink is there?
The Christmas Village has hot chocolate, toasted marshmallows, winter drinks and mince pies. You can sit in a heated tipi or in rustic log gazebos. It's card payments only.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Areas such as the Cave, Petrifying Well and marshmallow toasting may close in poor weather. If meeting Santa still goes ahead, there are no refunds. If the whole event is cancelled, you get a full refund. Bookings can't be rescheduled.
