Tips & Advice
- Children up to 12 must wear a helmet and gloves on the ice, so pack gloves and borrow a helmet at the rink office if needed.
- The rink ticket desk and skate rental close two hours before the rink shuts, so arrive in good time if you need to rent skates.
- Book an Eisstockschießen lane in advance with the Stadtmarketing team by phone or email, and have everyone in your group wear non-slip shoes on the ice.
- Skating times can change when shows or events are held on the ice, and curling may not be possible on some special program days.
- Bring your own skates from home if you have them; if not, there are adult and children's rentals and skate aids for the youngest skaters.
Special Events & Promotions
- The market again offers a natural ice rink this season.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do kids need special gear on the ice rink?
Yes. Children up to 12 must wear a helmet and gloves on the rink. If you don't have a helmet, you can borrow one at the ice-rink office.
Can I bring my own skates, or rent them there?
Both. You're welcome to bring skates from home. Rental skates come in adult and children's sizes, and skate aids are available for the littlest skaters for a deposit. Sport Schwager sharpens skates.
How does Eisstockschießen work, and how do I book a lane?
There are two lanes, and each lane takes up to eight people for an hour. Two teams of three or four play against each other, and you don't need any experience. Lanes must be booked in advance with the Stadtmarketing team by phone or email. They are usually available Wednesday to Friday in the afternoon and evening.
Can we hold a Christmas party or a kids' birthday at the market?
Yes. Companies and groups can hold Christmas parties among the stalls or on the ice. For birthdays, register ahead and send the children's shoe sizes so skates are held for you. The birthday child skates free and gets a free drink at the Rentiertränke.
Can school classes come skating?
Yes, on request only, on Monday and Tuesday mornings. Contact the Stadtmarketing office at least three working days ahead and give the skate sizes you need.
