Tips & Advice

  • Buy your Percorso dell'Albero ticket online or at the event ticket office, since the tree only shows its full shape from that paid path.
  • Come on a holiday or the day before one to use the free shuttle; on other days, park in a free car park and walk in.
  • On holidays and pre-holidays, visit the Christmas huts and Ghiaccio Park earlier, since both open in the morning instead of mid-afternoon on those days.
  • Dress warmly, as the tree path opens in the evening along the old town walls above Lake Trasimeno in December.
  • Allow some flexibility in bad weather, because opening hours for the tree path may change when conditions turn poor.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Percorso dell'Albero ticket include?

It covers the viewing point for the tree on the water, the Babbo Natale Xmas Garden with games and attractions, and the Sentiero del Presepe nativity trail. You can buy tickets at the event ticket office or online.

Can I see the tree from elsewhere in town?

Not properly. You only see the tree's full shape and proportions from the paid Percorso dell'Albero. Its viewing point is in the Poggio area, below the walls of the medieval Rocca.

Where can I park?

There are plenty of free car parks a few dozen metres from the event, and you can walk into the historic centre from them. A free shuttle runs on holidays and the days before holidays.

What else is there besides the tree?

Le Casette del Natale sell crafts and Christmas specialties on Via Belvedere. There's also skating at Ghiaccio Park, and Castiglione del Lego has a world of colourful bricks in the Sala Preconsiliare.

Where can we eat?

There are lots of restaurants, trattorias and pizzerias in the area. For a place to stay, there are many hotels, B&Bs and agriturismi nearby.
