Know Before You Go
- Parking: Free on-site parking.
- Accessibility: Wheelchair access is available in the Folk Park, though paths can be uneven, cobbled, or muddy, and Bunratty Castle itself is not wheelchair accessible.
Tips & Advice
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before your Grotto slot, because bookings that turn up on the wrong date or outside their slot can't be accommodated.
- Wear sturdy footwear, because the Folk Park paths are uneven in places, cobbled along Village Street and can turn muddy in bad weather.
- Don't try to book a table for lunch or dinner, because the on-site restaurants don't take reservations and tables turn over often.
- Families with sensory needs should phone the reservations office instead of booking online, so the team can arrange an arrival time and fast-track Grotto access.
- Pick your date carefully when booking, because bookings are non-refundable except for unexpected illness or emergencies handled through the reservations office.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens when we arrive?
Check in at Admissions with your name and booking time. You'll get a letter and a map that show when to go to the Grotto.
Can I bring a buggy into the Grotto?
No, buggies can't go into the Grotto. There is a dedicated area outside where you can leave them.
Where can we eat, and do we need to book a table?
You can eat at The Earl's Pantry, Bunratty Tea Rooms or The Corn Barn Restaurant. No reservations are needed because tables turn over often, and tables can't be held during this busy time.
What happens if there's a weather warning?
With a yellow warning the site stays open, depending on conditions. With an orange wind warning or any red warning it closes fully, and you're offered another booking.
Is there help for families with sensory needs?
Yes. Contact the reservations office by phone or email before you visit. They will arrange an arrival time and a welcome, followed by fast-track access to the Grotto when possible. This doesn't apply to online bookings.
