What is the application fee and can it be waived?
There is a $15 non-refundable application fee. Fee waivers are available upon request due to financial circumstances.
What instruments are eligible for the fellowship?
Fellowships may be awarded for violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, harp, percussion, and piano. Organ and saxophone are not eligible.
What is the time commitment for Youth Fellows?
Youth Fellows typically spend an average of 2-4 days per month participating in program activities at the Kennedy Center, often during school hours.
Can I continue private lessons with my current teacher?
Yes, a limited number of places may be available for students who opt to continue private study with their non-NSO or non-WNOO teacher, though lesson fees with these teachers will not be covered by the program.
When will I be notified if I have been accepted?
Audition results will be emailed by June 6, 2025.
