The Cortes Living Nativity Scene is a Christmas performance that began in 2000 thanks to the idea of four friends. It has become an essential event in the Ribera Navarra with a well-executed setting and over 150 local actors recreating the time when Jesus of Nazareth was born. The audience can enjoy sweets and watch scenes such as a village and market, a chestnut seller, a mill, a blacksmith shop, washerwomen, fishermen, shepherdesses with their bread, lumberjacks, a rustic bakery, the throne of the Magi, the Annunciation, the luck of the holly, spinners, a woodcarver, a leper's mountain, a pottery workshop, orange sellers, a portal, a Roman blacksmith, Roman mosaics, a Roman oven, Pilate's temple, a gladiator's circus, Herod's castle, and a tavern.
