The Wanamaker Christmas Light Show, Christmas Village in LOVE Park, and LumiNature at the Philadelphia Zoo are among the city’s largest and most popular holiday events.
Philadelphia is known for the Wanamaker Christmas Light Show, a decades-old tradition featuring a massive light display and music in a historic downtown building, as well as neighborhood “Christmas Streets” where residents go all out with festive decorations.
South Philly neighborhoods like the 1300 block of South 13th Street (Miracle on South 13th) and Smedley Street are famous for their elaborate, community-driven light displays. Center City also shines with the Wanamaker Light Show and downtown decorations.
The Christmas Village in LOVE Park is the city’s main holiday market, while smaller artisan markets and craft fairs can be found in neighborhoods like Old City and Center City throughout the season.
Free activities include the Wanamaker Christmas Light Show, Franklin Square’s Electrical Spectacle, and strolling through neighborhood light displays. Many holiday markets are also free to enter.
Families will enjoy LumiNature at the Philadelphia Zoo, the Christmas Village in LOVE Park, and neighborhood light displays, all of which offer kid-friendly activities, visits with Santa, and seasonal treats.
