September 21, 2024 - October 6, 2024. Saturday, September 21, 2024: Parade of the Oktoberfest brewery owners. Entry of the hosts and brewers to the Wiesn: Starts at 10:45 AM, duration approx. 1 hour. Opening festival of Oktoberfest with the hosts' families, decorated carriages, Munich brewery wagons pulled by teams of horses or oxen, waitresses on decorated wagons, and all the tent orchestras. The Mayor of Munich symbolically 'taps' the first barrel with a hammer. Beers will begin to be served at 12:00 PM. Sunday, September 22, 2024: Parade of traditional costumes and 'marksmen'. Starts at 10:00 AM, duration approx. 2 hours.
