Downtown Cairo comes alive each December under a canopy of lights and becomes the scene of holiday merriment as we usher in the holiday season with the annual Christmas parade. The parade kicks off on the first Thursday in December at 7:00 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce and continues down Broad Street ending at the First Methodist Church. Each year the parade includes marching bands, beauty queens, horses, dozens of decorated floats, honored guests, and of course Santa Claus!
